Iran had some struggles against Malta but finally managed to add a third win at the 6th FINA World Men’s Water Polo Development Trophy on Thursday.
In Group A, the Iranian team beat the host 12-8. Aleksandar Ciric’s men, who had defeated Uruguay 15-8 and Tunisia 10-8 in the first two matches, advanced to the next stage as the first team, Tasnim News Agency reported.
The competition has welcomed eight promising teams for a six-day tournament, October 17-22 in Gzira, Malta.
The last edition back in 2015 in Tehran was won by Iran, while Uruguay took silver and Austria bronze.
