Iran’s experienced freestyle squad took 14 gold, four silver and four bronze medals to win the title at the Veteran World Championships, October 10-15, in Bulgaria.
Staged at Kolodrum Sport Hall in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv, the event saw the Iranians emerge on top overall with a total of 299 points, Mehr News Agency reported.
The US was second with seven gold, seven silver and eight bronze trophies -- a total of 156 points while the third place went to Russia with 150 points after winning three gold, three silver and six bronze medals.
Earlier in the Greco-Roman category, veteran wrestlers from Iran had landed first with seven gold, five bronzes getting a total of 160 points. Teams from Russia and the US finished second and third with 160 and 114 points respectively.
