Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is set to be sidelined for six weeks with the rib injury he sustained in a car accident last week.

The 29-year-old, who was in Amsterdam, suffered a fractured rib in the incident, reported.

Aguero was a passenger in a Crysler PT Cruiser taxi which was driving him to the airport, but veered off the road and slammed into a light pole in the De Boelelaan area of the city.

Man City had hoped the injury would heal relatively quickly, but the Argentina team doctor, Donato Villani, now expects the forward to be out until the start of November.

Aguero has already been ruled out of Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers against Peru on October 5 and Paraguay on October 11, but is now set to miss City’s home-and-away Champions League games against Napoli and Premier League games against Stoke, Burnley, West Brom and Arsenal.
