Iran’s basketball club Petrochimi Bandar Imam lost to Kazakhstan’s BC Astana at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2017 play-off for third place on Saturday and finished the tournament in fourth place.
Iranians were looking for payback against the Kazakhs, who handed them their only loss in the group phase, but Astana proved to be the steadier team and defeated Iran club 81-78 to win bronze, Tasnim News Agency reported.
The tournament was held in Chenzhou, China, from September 22 to 30. It was the second straight year that China hosted the Asia Champions Cup.
