Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Imam Nahrowi and Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia Valiollah Mohammadi Nasrabadi met on Tuesday and underlined boosting sports cooperation.
Nasrabadi pointed to the growing trend of relations in all fields, including sports, and congratulated Indonesia’s top position in the Para-ASEAN Games in Malaysia, IRNA reported.
Indonesian Para teams with 126 gold medals ranked first in the Malaysia Para-ASEAN Games.
The envoy voiced Iran’s readiness to expand sporting relations with Indonesia in all fields and said following visit of the Indonesian minister to Iran, the two sides are witnessing exchange of athletic delegations between the two nations.
Referring to 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, the ambassador expressed Iran’s willingness to cooperate in holding the games.
Nahrowi pointed to his visit to Iran two years ago and said Iran has modern sport complexes and as the 2018 Asian Games will be held in Jakarta, his government is interested in using Iran’s experience in developing sport infrastructures.
He appreciated Iran’s Ministry of Sports and Youth for sending executive proposals and said that the document is under consideration.
