3 Gold for Iran’s Disabled at Asia Chess Championship

The 6-member squad of Iran’s national chess team of the visually impaired bagged three gold medals at a competition in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz capital.

At the end of the week-long games of the First Asian Chess Championship for Disabled,  Seddigheh Sargazi Amir Rabbi and Omid Karimi garnered three golds for Iran, Mehr News Agency reported.

Bishkek hosted the first Chess Championship of Asia among persons with disabilities from September 15-21 with participants from 10 Asian countries: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and one oceanic nation – Australia.

More than 100 players with full and partial hearing and vision loss, as well as persons with musculoskeletal injuries and disorders participated.
