Iranian women’s national futsal team defeated Italy 3-1 in a friendly match in Tehran on Thursday.
Shahrzad Mozaffar’s team is preparing for the 2018 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship which will be held in May in Thailand, Tasnim News Agency reported.
Iran claimed the title of the first edition which was held in Malaysia in 2015.
The Iranian and Italian football federations signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as part of efforts to boost cooperation between the two countries in October, 2014.
Kabaddi Team Routs Thailand in Asia Event
Iran’s men team started the Asian Kabaddi Championships on a high note on Friday, trouncing Thailand 66-14 at the Azadi Complex in the northern city of Gorgan, Golestan Province.
The competitions, November 23-26, are held in both men’s and women’s sections, Tasnim News Agency reported.
In the men’s category, Iran has been drawn along with South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkmenistan in Group B.
In the women’s category, Iran is pitted against Sri Lanka, Japan, Iraq, and Pakistan in Group B. India, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan are in Group A.
