People in the capital will be able to pay for entering the Air Pollution Control (APC) zone using an online service named Tehran-e Man (My Tehran in Persian) developed by Tehran Municipality.
The service is accessible through a smartphone application and the website my.tehran.ir.
According to the TM's Transportation and Traffic Office, APC is the new traffic scheme that will come into effect on June 22. As per the plan, each vehicle can enter a designated 'restricted zone' for free for a maximum of 20 days every season.
This zone is an 88.5 square kilometer area in central Tehran terminating at the Imam Ali Expressway to the east, Navvab Expressway and Chamran Highway to the west, Besat Expressway in the south and Hemmat Expressway in the north.
If motorists want to enter the zone more than the number of times set in the new plan, they should pay a fee through the Tehran-e Man application or the website. The amount is not yet known.
To use the service, those interested can visit the website my.tehran.ir or download and install Tehran-e Man application accessible on the website. Users need to firsts create an account to access a categorized menu.
The online service will also come in handy for making urban micropayments like road toll, traffic tickets, subway tickets and parking meter fees.
