The most popular Android version used in Iran is the Marshmallow and Samsung makes the best-sold smartphones in the country, local startup and push notification service provider Pushe reports.
On its website pushe.co, the startup has published a report on Iranian Android users’ preferences and general behavior.
Based on data gathered from 9 billion pushed notifications, sent through 60,000 apps surveyed by Pushe, Samsung is the most popular Android smartphone maker in Iran. The apps through which the push notifications were published collectively were installed over 83 million times and had 27 million active users.
A push notification is a message that pops up on a mobile device. App publishers can send them at any time; users do not have to be in the app or use their devices to receive them. The notifications can do a lot of things. For example, they can show the latest sports scores, get a user to take an action, such as downloading a coupon or let a user know about an event, such as a sale.
Push notifications look like SMS text messages and mobile alerts, but they only reach users who have installed the app through which the notifications are published.
