The 24th edition of Iran International Electronic, Computer and E-Commerce International Exhibition, better known as Elecomp 2018, kicked off in Tehran on Saturday, where local startups had a strong presence, while government bodies displayed their latest plans to foster Iran's robust ICT sector. This round of the expo has been debuted with a flashy slogan, "On March Toward Digital Economy," following a recently introduced push by the government of President Hassan Rouhani aimed at curbing Iran's overreliance on oil revenues through cranking up earnings of technology-related businesses.
During the event, the ICT Ministry unveiled its long-awaited User Data Protection Bill aimed at preserving citizens' privacy in the cyber arena.
