Domestic Composite Drive Shafts Cost-Competitive, Moneymaker

A domestic knowledge-based company has produced cost-competitive composite drive shafts for use in steel, refinery, petrochemical and power plant industries

A knowledge-based company has produced composite drive shafts that help prevent currency outflow by making the import of foreign counterpart unnecessary.

The composite drive shaft produced by Parsa Composite Iranian Company can meet the needs of steel, refinery, petrochemical and power plant industries, according to the company’s CEO.

“Domestic drive shafts, which are used for power torque transmission, have wide applications in vehicles, cooling towers, turbines and pumps,” Majid Heydari was also quoted as saying by the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

A drive shaft helps transmit mechanical power and torque to connect other components of a drivetrain that cannot be attached directly due to distance, or the need to allow for movement between them.

Heydari stated that lightness, corrosion resistance and zero temperature expansion are among the advantages of composite drive shafts compared to metal shafts.

According to the CEO, when the cooling towers shut down, the entire production process is disrupted.

“The company’s drive shafts are similar to American models, which were difficult to acquire due to sanctions. Since we had experience in screw thread mechanism, we started to produce this product to meet domestic needs,” he said.

He stressed that the precision tools produced by this knowledge-based company have less vibration, longer lifespan and never experienced a breakdown.

Referring to the high revenue generation potential of this enterprise, Heydari said, “Some 50 composite drive shafts are sold to different industries by the knowledge-based company every year, which are priced at $7,000 apiece, which prevents the outflow of $350,000 annually.”

The CEO noted that the company currently has a workforce of 20, of which 10 oversee drive shaft production.

Heydari said the domestic product has a higher speed of production and offers after-sales services.

Cost-Competitive Industrial Lubricant

A knowledge-based company has produced industrial lubricants cheaper than foreign counterparts for different industries.

Kimia Farayand Naqsh-e Jahan Company is focused on acquiring technical knowhow and producing special lubricants to meet domestic needs, according to the company’s CEO.

“One of the company’s main products is a high quality lubricant used in the wire and cable stretching process, which could rival European products,” Saeed Soleimani was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

“The gel lubricant used in the metalworking and steel industry is another knowledge-based product that has solved customer’s challenges in this field,” he added.

Stressing that the product does not have a domestic counterpart, the company’s CEO stated that a variety of solvents have different kinds of usages and production methods, but the knowledge-based product of this company is both cheaper and of high quality.

According to Soleimani, the company offers appropriate after-sales services that are another advantage of this product compared to foreign models.

“Machine oil, wire and aluminum wire stretching oil, HT heat transfer oil HT, turbine oil T, lathe soluble oil [cutting oil], hydraulic oil H, hydraulic oil with high viscosity index HV, zinc-free hydraulic oil Hz, industrial gear oil G, circulating oil CI, CO compressor oil are among the main products of the company,” he said.

The CEO stated that the company has created 25 direct jobs and numerous indirect jobs in the distribution network.

While emphasizing that the support of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology will lead to the growth of knowledge-based companies, Soleimani said, “We have been operating in this field for about 10 years with complete knowhow and we are one of the first companies producing knowledge-based products in the field.”

Device Helps Measure Contact Angle, Surface Tension

A knowledge-based company has produced a device for measuring contact angle and interfacial tension, which can be used in numerous fields from the synthesis of nanomaterials to the food and oil industries.

The device produced by Fanavari Ezdiad Bardasht Fars Company provides the data to the user via online software after completing the assessment.

The contact angle measuring device is an important tool in the field of nanotechnology, which helps conduct material surface analysis on nanomaterials.

One of the applications of the contact angle device pertains to investigating surface properties and nanocoatings, the news portal of Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council reported.

Surface tension is an important concept in nanotechnology and refers to the force that exists between two immiscible phases at their interface, such as the boundary between a liquid and a gas or between two liquids.

One of its key applications is in the identification of nanostructured materials. By measuring the interfacial tension between these materials and different environments, researchers can obtain important information about their surface properties and behavior.

For example, changes in surface tension can be used to monitor the adsorption of nanoparticles on surfaces, or to study the behavior of nanoparticles in different solvents.

Another important application of the surface tension device is in the development and optimization of nanomaterial synthesis methods.

For instance, controlling the surface tension during the synthesis of nanoparticles can help control their size, shape and distribution, which are critical factors for the performance of nanoparticles in various applications.

In the oil industry, this device is used to investigate the effect of adding nanoparticles to surface tension and contact angle for increasing oil recovery.

Surface tension also plays a role in the stability of colloidal materials commonly used in nanotech applications. By controlling the interfacial tension between the particles and the surrounding environment, researchers can optimize the stability of these colloids, which is essential for long-term use in various applications.

Surface tension has many applications in the food industry, including

emulsions that are important in the production of food products, including sauces. By controlling the surface tension between the oil and water interface in an emulsion, researchers can optimize the stability and texture of the final product.
