Domestic Company Develops Multiuse Overcurrent Relays

A knowledge-based company has produced a multifunction three-phase and earth-fault numerical overcurrent relay that can meet domestic demand

A knowledge-based company has produced a multipurpose electrical device that prevents currency outflow.

The three-phase and earth-fault numerical overcurrent relay is a knowledge-based product of the Persian Processing Energy Power Company, according to the company’s CEO.

“Due to the lack of domestic models and the urgent need for this product, a group of Iranian experts launched a research project in the field,” Mohammad Hossein Manafi was also quoted as saying by the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

Overcurrent relays are electrical protection devices that are designed to open or trip a circuit when the current flowing through it exceeds a certain level, but on the higher side.

According to Manafi, the production of this relay will help prevent currency outflow by making the country needless of import.

“Lower price, timely support and cheaper maintenance, as well as the possibility of customizing it, are the main advantages of the domestic overcurrent relay over its foreign models,” he said.

The CEO added that the multifunction overcurrent relay can be used by the electrical power sector, power distribution companies and large industries.

The domestic overcurrent relay is suitable for all applications where overcurrent and earth-fault protection are required.

The main applications of this relay are main or backup protection on Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) systems, overhead lines and underground cables as a backup for HV systems and neutral overcurrent protection.

It is also equipped with a Persian user-friendly Human Machine Interface that can be fully set through the front HMI or using RMCI interface software.

In addition to its protection function, the relay also provides measurement and monitoring information for efficient maintenance and post-fault analysis.

A unified phase rated current 1A/5A, multiple setting groups, multi-shot auto reclose, Root-Mean-Squared for the current measurements, disturbance recording, including all the current transformer inputs, faults and events recording, are the main functions of the overcurrent relay.

While mentioning that the company is active in the fields of relays and current controllers, and produces other types of relays, Manafi said, “By using the vast and complex world of microprocessors, the company has been able to design special equipment and tools that require high accuracy and speed, as well as efficient processing and calculations in the electrical power industry and microprocessors.”

Domestic Telecom Equipment  Excellent, Cost Competitive

A knowledge-based company has produced telecommunication equipment that are of superior quality and can help prevent a significant foreign currency outflow from importing counterparts.

The products of Ava Communication Industries Company in the fields of IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) and Next Generation Networks (NGN) have successfully replaced European and Chinese brands in the country's telecommunication network, according to the company’s CEO.

“In recent years, the company’s products have obtained all relevant approvals. They are being used by public and private companies and organizations, and possess the most advanced technologies in this field,” Gholamali Hassani was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

He noted that the company is active in the design, production and development of call centers, data networks and next-generation telecom systems.

“The constant monitoring and updating of product security, customization and integration of communications portal, as well as its one-third lower price compared to foreign counterparts, are the main advantages of the company’s products,” he said.

“At present, more than 5 million telecommunication switches produced by the company have been purchased by the Telecommunication Company of Iran, Telecommunication Infrastructure Company, fixed communications providers, most ministries and major organizations.”

Referring to the production of next-generation telecom centers, Hassani said that in view of the need to integrate communications in organizations, the company started designing and producing next-generation call centers to meet domestic needs.

“Based on the latest telecommunication technology, the company’s call center is considered the first and only of its kind completely designed and produced in Iran,” he added.

According to the CEO, the company’s projects have prevented the outflow of millions of dollars, while making the country self-sufficient in this strategic area.

“In case of government support, the outflow of more than €30 million will be prevented,” he added.

Stressing that cloud-based IMS/NGN products are the latest technology in this field, Hassani said only a few companies in the world produce these types of products that have huge export potentials.

“The company has created 100 direct jobs, but with the increase in production and the development of new products, it will be possible to create 1,000 direct and 10,000 indirect jobs in the next two years,” he said.
