A domestic knowledge-based company has developed ozone analyzers that can evaluate and measure the quality parameters of drinking water and treated wastewater.
“These analyzers are designed to conform with domestic conditions and electricity fluctuations. Water and sewage companies are their main buyers,” Shahab Zarrin Ghobai, CEO of Abzar Daqiq Aab Azma knowledge-based company, said.
The company’s ozone analyzers assess chlorine, oxygen, nitrate, turbidity, color and hardness in drinking water and treated wastewater, according to the news portal of Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology.
If the amount of chlorine is higher than the standard amount, it carries carcinogenic risks, and if it is lower, the water will not be adequately sterilized. Therefore, the analyzer helps ensure that the water’s constituent elements are within an acceptable limit.
In the past, these products were imported from Germany and the United States, but for the past three years, most Iranian cities have been using domestic products.
These analyzers are installed at the outlets of water treatment plants to control the amount of chlorine, at the network junction to prevent the entry of contaminants and in water and sewage tanks.
The price of foreign analyzers is fourfold higher than that of their domestic counterparts. As sanctions prevented imports, those imported in the past also remained unused due to a lack of spare parts.
As advanced technology is involved in these products, only a few companies can produce them. At present, the domestic product has been exported to Turkmenistan and Iraq.
Data transfer to the control center is not secure in the foreign products, while the domestic products’ servers are localized and updated from time to time so they don’t face such a problem.
Domestic Multi-Purpose Machine Competitive
A knowledge-based company has succeeded in manufacturing a machine that can simultaneously undertake milling and turning, and rival foreign counterparts.
“The machine has many applications in various industries,” Mohammad Hossein Amani, CEO of Mobtakeran Sanaat Rash Machine-Building Company, said, noting that the Computer Numerical Control milling and turning machine has six-axis.
The precise cutting machine, which has been patented, is controlled by a pre-programmed computer software that handles its tools functions, the news portal of Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology reported.
The eight-head CNC milling and turning machine is used in many industries, including wood, sculpture, statuary, modeling and molding, as well as masonry.
The foreign model of this device is made only for metals and are very expensive compared with the domestic model, so its use in the wood and stone industries is not affordable.
The high quality, much lower price and its ability to work on eight pieces simultaneously make the domestic product competitive.
Because of its large size and wide range of maneuvering, it has extensive applications in various fields.
After-sales service and low-cost repair are other advantages of this product compared to foreign models.
Currently, the company employs about 80 people directly, which will expand with the rise in production.
Noting that the idea of transforming companies to knowledge-based ones is commendable, Amani appreciated the support of the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology.
“If the process of receiving facilities is made easier, more companies could benefit," he said.
Supplying Raw Materials to Pharmas
An Iranian knowledge-based company produces ingredients and fillers used by pharmaceutical companies to eliminate the need for imports.
By producing magnesium oxide and calcium carbonate that are widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, Ehya Kimia-e-Shargh Knowledge-Based Company is helping Iranian producers meet domestic needs and enter the markets of neighboring countries.
Fillers are inactive substances used in pharmaceutical compounding to determine the size of finished products.
“These materials, after processing and formulation, become pharmaceutical raw materials. Magnesium oxide is used as a raw material for making magnesium hydroxide and magnesium stearate that are used in the production of medicines,” Mosayyeb Jalali, the CEO of the company, said.
It’s the only company producing pharmaceutical-grade magnesium oxide in Iran. Its product has a standard and purity higher than the product’s USP (United States Pharmacopeia).
