Work Schedule Change Proposed to Ease Tehran Traffic

To tackle traffic congestion in major Iranian cities before the new school year (starting Sept. 23), Iran Traffic Police has proposed changes to work schedule during early autumn. 
General Kamal Hadianfar, the national traffic police chief, said that with the opening of schools, traffic jam in metropolises like Tehran is expected to rise 25-30%. 
“To handle the situation, all the governorate generals and administrative offices are expected to collaborate with the traffic police,” ISNA quoted him as saying on Sunday.
Hadianfar noted that in case, the regular working schedule is moved two hours forward for a 10-day period to Oct. 2, the rush hour caused by school-goers and university students will not overlap with that of the state employees.
The schedule change will then normalize after the rush of students cools. 
No decision has been made so far on the issue, but the traffic police is expected to announce the news update in the near future.
Hadianfar also called on the general public to observe traffic regulations to avoid driving mishaps during the rush hours.
