A number of classic cars will participate in a rally in Tehran on Wednesday, the Touring and Automobile Club of Iran announced.
“As many as 60 Iranian and foreign vintage vehicles will attend the event, Ardeshir Darvishi, an official at the club, told IRNA.
He added that a majority of the cars are manufactured by Volkswagen, while other cars include Mercedes-Benz and BMW products.
“The locally-made Peykan is also among cars participating in the rally. All participating cars were manufactured between 1950 and 1975,” he said.
The tour will begin at Niavaran Complex in northern Tehran and continue through major highways to reach Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization near Azadi Tower. The tour will wrap up at the National Museum of Iran in downtown Tehran.
Darvishi maintained that the tour is aimed at promoting the culture of preserving and valuing vintage cars in the capital.
He also announced that another tour is being arranged by the club from Tehran to Semnan.
"The next event, which is to be held in late August, will introduce the natural tourist attractions of the destination province, including mountainous areas and the breathtaking Abr Forest, along with the historical sites located along the path," he said.
