Speeding, running the red light and failing to comply with the no-entry sign, are the three major traffic violations by drivers in Tehran. Tehran Traffic Police Chief Col. Teymoor Hosseini said of the 12 million violations that occurred in the first 9 months of the current year (ends March 20), 2.5 million were recorded by surveillance cameras and the rest were issued manually by police officers. Hosseini added that 2,500 driving licenses of errant drivers have so far been suspended.
