Mobile Operator to Help Restore Schools in Flood-Hit Areas

Iran's second largest mobile operator, MTN-Irancell, has signed a multilateral agreement to help restore and equip schools in underdeveloped areas of the country.
Signed by Irancell, Organization for Development, Renovation and Equipping of Schools and Charity Schools Association of Iran on Saturday, the agreement amounts to 120 billion rials ($952,000), 50 billion rials ($396,000) of which are to be financed by the mobile operator, Peivast reported.
As per the deal, six schools with six to nine classrooms each will be built in Golestan, Lorestan and Khuzestan provinces. 
Bijan Abbasi Arand, the Irancell chief, said the company’s charitable activities will not end there. 
"Besides the schools planned to be built in the provinces, five schools in each province will be equipped with computers and electronic devices," he added.
Arand said Irancell is committed to regularly pay its share in order to accelerate the project. 
Urban infrastructures and buildings in Golestan, Lorestan and Khuzestan provinces have been heavily damaged by severe floods in early April.
