Tehran Municipality has launched sightseeing tours in and around Sorkheh Hesar National Park in east Tehran to promote tourism in the area.
An electric open-sided minibus, with a capacity of 15 passengers, is conducting sightseeing tours since early this week, TM's Public Relations Office reported.
Morteza Rahmanzadeh, the mayor of the capital's District 13, said the minibus is a zero-emission vehicle that does not harm the region’s environment.
“The minibus operates tours twice a day in the forest park,” he said.
Rahmanzadeh did not provided more details on tour prices and timing.
"In case the new initiative is welcomed by visitors, more minibuses will be employed to conduct the tours," he said.
Sorkheh Hesar National Park, spread over 9,380 hectares, is considered a natural reserve. Persian fallow deer, red fox, cape hare, Persian leopard, golden eagle, hawks and snakes are among the species inhabiting the park.
The forest park used to be a hunting ground, but at present hunting is strictly prohibited.
