The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) volunteers have provided assistance to more than 600 people trapped in snow as the blizzard paralyzed 6 provinces in Iran since Friday, said deputy assistant of IRCS relief and rescue unit, Hossein Darvishi.

“Six provinces including Tehran, Razavi Khorasan, Semnan, Golsetan, Gilan and Mazandaran have been affected by the snow and blizzard,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying. Ninety people received temporary emergency shelter while two persons were transferred to nearby medical centers, he said.

Darvishi said 25 IRCS teams comprising 75 rescuers rescued 100 vehicles which were trapped in the snow.
