Head of the Department of Environment Masoumeh Ebtekar said devolving the task of tackling air pollution in the capital to the Tehran Municipality alone is not feasible since the crisis requires cooperation and involvement of several organizations, reports ISNA. The two main sources of air pollution are substandard fuel and polluter cars and the municipality is unable to tackle the problems by itself. She said “there is need for a national body to put in place major policies” to combat the problem.
