Forecasts indicate that low precipitation in the country will be 11 times worse than the current situation till the year 2050, warned Masumeh Ebtekar, head of the Department of Environment (DoE).
“This situation has caused deep concern about the future of the country and the region as well. At present we are working with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) to develop a plan to prevent the crisis,” Alef News Agency quoted her as saying.
The UN environment agency coordinates global environmental activities, assisting developing countries in implementing environmentally sound policies and practices.
