During the first 9 months of the current year (ending March 20) 60 drug gangs were broken up in the capital Tehran. Deputy Chief of Tehran Police Brigadier General Qader Karimi said “in an intensified war on drugs, 38,000 drug dealers were also arrested during the same period,” ISNA reported. He added that 12,546 kilos of narcotics were seized by the police force which is 10% up from the same period in the previous year.
