The deputy director of the Center for Communicable Diseases at the ministry of health, has warned about the first wave of “Influenza virus B” in the country and said “high risks groups should take the vaccine even if they have already been infected, so they will be protected against the next flu wave.”
Mohammad Nabavi said the high risk group includes children younger than 5 and especially children less than 2 years, adults 65 years of age and older, pregnant women and residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. People with asthma, chronic lung diseases and heart diseases are also at risk, ISNA reported.
