There are 14,000 women bread-winners employed in the ministry of education. The ministry’s Director of Women and Family Affairs Department Mahnaz Ahmadi said “unfortunately the law for these women is not supportive enough” but the ministry “is stepping up efforts to protect them.” Promotion of women teachers, upgrading them to managerial positions and identifying and solving their problems are some of the priorities of the department. She added that female students are also the target of the ministry’s aid programs, especially girls in remote and underdeveloped areas, ISNA reported.
