The counseling deputy at the ministry of education said the ban on carrying mobile phones by students into classrooms is still in place because of the non-educational functions of such devices. Hamid Reza Kaffash quoted by ISNA said the ban is not exclusive to Iranian schools and in many parts of the world cell phones are not allowed as they are considered a distraction to the students’ learning process. He hoped that the ministry of telecommunication will design and manufacture cell phones specific to students’ use.
