The National Elite Foundation of Iran has denied that the duration of military service for intellectuals and stellar students would be reduced to half. Human Resources deputy at the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Mousa Kamali quoted by ISNA, said there are special plans for them in that they only have to complete “the compulsory military education and training part of the service” and for the remaining term “they will be allowed to do a scientific project in lieu of army service.”
