Deputy of primary education Mohammad Dimeh Fard announced the ‘house to house search’ to identify students who have dropped out of school in order to return them into the educational-fold. The plan will be implemented in all the provinces.
Dimeh Fard told Iran newspaper that after gathering information, the names and addresses of the students will be proposed to relevant provincial authorities. The authorities will then locate them through a house to house search, after which “we will carry necessary measures to return them to schools, based on the reasons which forced them to drop out in the first place,” he added.
According to official statistics, last year 156,000 students were deprived of their right to primary education. Unofficial figures indicate there are more than one million children excluded from formal school education.
