Caspian Sea pollution has posed new challenges in transferring water to Iran’s central deserts and saving Lake Urumia as well, said Javad Malek, head of the national research center of the Caspian Sea. “The Caspian Sea has an overall rotation pattern of north-south, which brings to the surface in southern coasts most of the pollution,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying. In addition to the water pollution, drop in the level of the sea in the recent years is another important issue which makes the water transfer impossible, he added.
