    Fires in Golestan National Park

Fires swept 4.5 hectares of forests in the Golestan National Park recently, according to the provincial Department of Environment (DoE).

Fortunately the fires were contained with the help of rangers and local people and didn’t cause damage to the trees. Only some bushes and dried leaves were burned in the wild fires, IRNA reported.

Golestan National Park is situated between the eastern parts of the Alborz Mountains and the western fringes of the Khorasan-Kopet dag. It has several habitats, like temperate broad leaf forests, grasslands, shrubs and rocky areas. There are 1350 plants species and 302 animal species in the park.
