Most victims of suicide are educated up to primary and elementary levels and suicide is less common among graduates of bachelor or higher educational degrees as indicated by the Legal Medicine Organization statistics, said Ruzbeh Korduni, general director of the Social Harms Office at the State Welfare Organization (SWO).

Given that only 11 percent of the victims are unemployed, “we cannot say that there is a strong relationship between unemployment and suicide.” On the other hand, it is better to examine the reason for suicide in different parts of the country, as they vary from one province to another, ISNA reported.

At present the regions where suicide rates are high have been identified and effective measures will be implemented to reduce the risks, he added.
