There is a rise in the number of youth detention centers, which is the direct result of a surge in the rate of juvenile delinquency, said the head of the Association of Social Workers of Iran quoted by ILNA. Hassan Mousavi said due to the large youth population in Iran, more youth are becoming vulnerable to criminal activities. He added that “young women running away from home is one example of social ills facing the youth” and drastic measures should be taken to make possible the return of these women back into society.
