Free dental services will be provided to pregnant women and children below 14 years in rural areas, said Dr. Ali Akbar Sayyari, deputy health minister.
Based on the Rural Health Plan, there will be one physician for every 3,500 rural residents, he said quoted by IRNA.
He also said 47 million people in Iran consume “unhealthy food,” by which he meant low consumption of fruits and vegetables and high consumption of fat, sugar and salt.
He noted that each Iranian uses an average of 10 to 12 grams of salt daily, as against the recommended less than five grams. Sayyari also warned against the use of non-standard salt.
