60,000 Birds Migrate  to Gandoman

About 60,000 migratory birds have flown to the Gandoman lagoon in Borujen in the Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari Province. The migrating species include grebes, coots, and loons. The birds have migrated from Siberia and countries to the north of Iran. They usually arrive in mid-October and stay till spring. Last year 170,000 birds migrated to the international lagoon in the province. Every year 30 percent of the birds nest and breed in the wetlands. With an area of 980 hectares, Gandoman is among the top ten lagoons in Iran.
