There are 2.5 million women in the country who head their households; in addition to widows and divorced women, many are unmarried girls with high education, said Shahindokht Molaverdi, vice president for women affairs.
In the second year of President Rouhani’s administration, “we are planning to take concrete steps to achieve our gender goals,” Mehr News Agency quoted her as saying.
Measures to improve living condition of women inhabitants of unofficial settlements have been taken and in this regard “we have held talks with the ministry of roads and urban development.”
