Meeting on Poverty Alleviation

To mark the UN International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, the first Media and Social Welfare Conference will be held on October 17 with focus on evaluating and analyzing the causes of poverty.  Organized by the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare in collaboration with Ahange-Atiyeh Art and Culture Institute and the Iranian Association of Cultural Studies and Communication, the event will seek to help build closer interaction between social scientists and the media on ways and mean to alleviate poverty, ILNA reported. Participants have been invited to submit earlier published articles, reports, cartoons or interviews on issues related to poverty, including unemployment, drug abuse, divorce, disabilities, urban outcasts, single mothers, working children, and evaluation of policies on poverty eradication.
