The government on Monday approved the import of 375 emergency vehicles to help improve the Iranian Red Crescent Society’s rescue and emergency services, ILNA reported.
It gave permission for buying the new vehicles that include 175 Double Cab Toyota Hilux pickup trucks, to be used in rescue operations in mountainous and rugged terrains, as well as 200 Toyota Land Cruiser Hardtops, which will be retrofitted to serve as ambulances.
The IRCS was established in 1922 and was admitted to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. It is headquartered in Tehran and is among the top five relief agencies in the world.
