Recent flooding in Gilan Province, particularly in the cities of Langeroud and Lahijan, have inflicted losses amounting to more than 600 billion rials ($15.7 million), Gilan Governor Mohammad Ali Najafi said on Sunday. “More than 600 residential units in the cities and 450 homes in villages were damaged. Moreover, 15 bridges have been damaged and need repairs,” ISNA quoted him as saying. Torrential rains which started Thursday triggered the floods affecting many cities and villages in the northern regions. The deluge did not result in human casualties but caused immense difficulty for residents and tourists.
