Based on latest research conducted by the Health Ministry, one in every four Iranians suffers from mild to severe mental disorder.
“The prevalence of mental disorders is 24% among the 15-65 age group,” ISNA quoted a member of the Iranian Psychiatric Association, Hassan Fallahpour as saying.
He emphasized the importance of awareness creation programs in improving mental health, saying: “People need to familiarize with symptoms of mental disorder in order to detect it in themselves and approach a specialist,” Fallahpour said.
Mental disorders comprise a broad range of problems, with different symptoms. However, they are generally characterized by some combination of abnormal thoughts, emotions, behavior and relationships with others.
