From among 3,100 knowledge-based companies registered at the Office of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, 890 (28%) are firms active in the health sector, Hossein Vatanpour, director general of health technology office at the Health Ministry said Wednesday.
During the past few years measures have been taken to help promote innovation and creativity through funding knowledge-based firms. In 2015, knowledge-based businesses were granted tax exemption as well as custom tariff waivers on imported equipment. Addressing students in Qazvin University of Medical Sciences, Vatanpour said the ministry is supporting students in pursuing their innovative business ideas. “The Health Ministry can invest in the students’ projects to help them become self-sufficient business owners.”
