Tehran Map Museum, a collection of old maps and historical documents of Tehran, opened in the upscale Aqdasieh district. Newly elected Tehran Mayor Mohamamd-Ali Najafi and Education Minister Seyyed Mohammad Bat’haei attended the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, Mehr News Agency reported. The museum is showing original maps of Tehran since the Safavid era (1501-1736), old paintings of Tehran plus daily reports prepared by Conte de Monte Forte, Iran’s first police chief who was appointed by Naser al-Din Shah of Qajar in 1878 to keep law and order in the capital.
