TCC Top Slots Officially Approved

Elections for the Tehran City Council chairmanship were held on Wednesday during the new council’s first official meeting.

Mohsen Hashemi Rafsanjani, the sole candidate for the job, won 20 (out of 21) votes and was officially appointed the TCC chairman, IRNA reported.  Ebrahim Amini was unanimously elected as deputy chairman.

Zahra Nejadbahram and Bahareh Arvin were elected secretaries of the board of directors with 21 and 19 votes, respectively.

Ali A’ata became the spokesperson of the council with 18 votes.  Mohammad Ali Najafi was formally elected as Tehran’s mayor. He will take office after approval by the Interior Ministry. Both Rafsanjani and Najafi had secured the top positions earlier this month during unofficial sessions of the council.
