The average infertility rate among Iranian couples is higher than other countries, said chief executive of Helal Iran Pharmaceutical and Medical Complex. “The average global infertility rate stands at 10%-15% while it is 20% in Iranian couples,” IRNA quoted Hamid Choubineh as saying. Rise in marriage age (especially among women), and a growing tendency among couples to not have kids in the first few years of marriage are thought to be major contributing factors. According to Choubineh, between 2.5 million and 3.5 million Iranian couples do not have children.
