No educational institute has permission to offer courses on traditional medicine except for relevant faculties at universities of medical sciences and the Iranian Traditional Medicine Association, according to an official at the Health Ministry. Mahmoud Khodadoust, head of the traditional medicine department, told YJC, “No institute is allowed to run courses and issue certificates on traditional medicine,” he said. The public’s growing interest in traditional and herbal medicine has prompted several organizations to make an extra buck by offering lessons on the subject.
