Iran has been proposed to the World Health Organization to host the 2019 World Blood Donors Day. The nomination was made by the Eastern Mediterranean Blood and Marrow Transplantation Group to commend efforts by Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization to raise awareness, IBTO said in a statement. Held on June 14 every year since 2004, the gathering serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, and to thank blood donors for their voluntary life-saving gifts.
