Wheelchairs for Bottle Caps

In a novel move, a group of environmental activists in Gilan Province managed to purchase six wheelchairs for the physically disabled by collecting and selling bottle caps. “The good Samaritans collected two tons of plastic bottle caps from urban and rural areas in Lahijan and sold them for 20 million rials ($524),” Parvin Qader, head of the provincial office of the State Welfare Organization, was quoted by Mizan News Agency as saying. Five wheelchairs were donated to people in Lahijan and one was given to a handicapped individual in Ramsar.
