Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi has been appointed as the new commander of Tehran’s Law Enforcement Force.

Rahimi formerly served as police chief in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, Khabaronline reported.

The LEF is the uniformed police force in the country. It was created in early 1992. It has more than 60,000 personnel, including border guards and is under the control of the Ministry of Interior. In 2003, 400 women became the first female members of the police force since the revolution in 1979.
