In the last fiscal year that ended in March Iranian philanthropists donated $315 million to the construction of schools in deprived areas. “Over 650,000 philanthropists in the country and 1,000 Iranians living abroad contributed to construction of schools,” Mohammad Reza Hafezi, director of Charity Schools Association of Iran, was quoted by ISNA as saying. Around 37% of all schools in the country have been constructed with contributions from donors and currently more than 2.5 million students are studying in schools built by the association.
