Hospital Waste Management Poor

Waste disposal is not appropriate in 40 hospitals in Tehran and if the hospitals do not improve they will face the full force of the law, the head of the provincial office of the Department of Environment Mohammad Hossein Bazgir said. “All the hospitals with poor waste management have received official notice and are given a deadline to set the record straight,” ISNA quoted him as saying. Moreover, 8 hospitals lack sanitary wastewater treatment and they also have been warned. Healthcare waste contains potentially harmful microorganisms, which can infect hospital patients and staff, the public and the environment at large.
