During inspections of 463 automobile technical inspection centers, 15 were shut down due to violations. According to Saeid Qeisar, director of the Union of Public Transportation Organizations, the most important offences included manipulating the testing systems for car components and service life measurement and issuing ‘passed’ inspection stickers for cars that had technical faults.
“Two of the violating centers were in Kerman. No offences were found in Tehran,” he said, YJC reported. As per law, private cars over four years old must be inspected and controlled for emissions and safe engine function every year and receive an inspection sticker. On average, 30,000 to 35,000 cars refer to the inspection centers across the country on a daily basis.
