Lack of Counselors in Schools

At present, 18,000 counselors are working in schools helping students in their education and career decisions. They also help students overcome behavioral problems, said Masoud Shokouhi, director of educational and counseling affairs at the Education Ministry speaking to ICANA. The country has a shortage of 17,000 counselors to meet the standard of one counselor per 15 students. “To prepare students for making informed decisions and to hold mental health and personality tests, in addition to encouraging and motivating students we need more counselors in schools,” he said.
